The Editorial Board is delighted to be able to offer Stroke en Español. The Spanish edition will appear every 3 months with selected articles from the English edition, supplemented by commentaries, to provide context and perspective.
The Associate Editor for the Spanish edition is Dr Exuperio Díez Tejedor, from Madrid, Spain, a stroke neurologist active in laboratory, clinical, and stroke care delivery research. He is aided by Dr Blanca Fuentes and a distinguished Editorial Board, widely representative of the Spanish- and Portuguese-speaking world: José Alvarez Sabín (Barcelona, Spain) Fernando Barinagarrementería (México DF, México), José Castillo (Santiago de Compostela, Spain), Antonio Culebras (Syracuse, NY, USA), Oscar H. del Brutto (Guayaquil, Ecuador), Osvaldo Fustinoni (Buenos Aires, Argentina), Alberto Gil Peralta (Sevilla, Spain), Eduardo Martínez Vila (Pamplona, Spain), Ayrton Roberto Massaro (São Paulo, Brazil), Jordi Matías Guiu (Alicante, Spain), Germán Enrique Pérez (Bogotá, Colombia), Teodoro del Ser (Madrid, Spain), and Marco Zenteno (México DF, México).
The Associate Editor and the Editorial Board of the Spanish edition will select the articles and write the commentaries. All articles will be subject to final approval by the Editor-in-Chief of Stroke.
Gratitude and appreciation for Stroke en Español are due to Dr Exuperio Díez Tejedor, who took the initiative and persisted until his efforts succeeded; to Dr Jacobo A. Tieffenberg of Waverly, Hispánica SA, who has played and will continue to play a crucial role in the publication; and to Sanofi-Synthelabo Spain, for a totally unrestricted grant. In these days of justified concern about potential conflicts of interest between physicians and the pharmaceutical industry, we would do well to remember that we can have not only conflicts but also coincidences of interests, such as in the education of physicians.
We welcome comments and suggestions regarding Stroke en Español. Information is important, but customized, usable information is vital. May Stroke en Español be the first of other special editions of Stroke.
