On the cover of the January 1998 issue of Stroke, Dr William M. Feinberg’s year of birth was incorrect. Dr Feinberg was born on April 21, 1952, and died on October 24, 1997. Stroke regrets this error.
Singer et al have reported an error in their article, entitled “Diffusion-Weighted MRI in Acute Subcortical Infarction” (Stroke. 1998;29:133–136).
Since it is the single sentence intended to explain the hypothesized reason for abnormal diffusion in acute infarctions, in the first paragraph of the published “Discussion” the following sentence is incorrect: “The secondary shift of water from the extracellular space, where diffusion is nearly unrestricted, to the intracellular compartment, where there is apparently a more restricted environment for water movement, is postulated by many investigators as the cellular event correlating to the change on MRI.6–9”
The sentence should read as follows: “The secondary shift of water from the extracellular space to the intracellular compartment, resulting in a more restricted environment for water movement in the new extracellular space, is postulated by many investigators as the cellular event correlating to the change on MRI.6–9”
The authors regret the error.
