Response to Letter by Zoppo et al
We appreciate the thoughtful comments by Zoppo et al regarding the psychological impact of diet modification on vascular risk. The authors suggest that specific interventions for a healthy lifestyle in those with hyperlipidemia and obesity should be encouraged. Behavioral changes such as diet, exercise, and stress management have been shown to improve cardiovascular risk factors and psychosocial functioning.1 We agree that improvement in multiple health behaviors is an effective strategy for those who have elevated stroke risk.
