Invitation for Submissions
Stroke Innovation Award
“Discovery consists in seeing what everyone else has seen and thinking what no one else has thought.”
— —Albert Szent-Gyorgyi
The journal Stroke will provide a prize for up to 3 manuscripts submitted to the journal during a given year, that have been identified as being innovative. “Innovation” is defined broadly; it can be a new approach, a new methodology, new interpretation of existing data or new data with far reaching implications.
The Section, Assistant and Associate Editors of Stroke, will identify candidate manuscripts for the Award. The Editor-in-Chief will generate a short list and make the final decision with the help of 2 other jury members, 1 with complementary expertise within the field and 1 outside of the field.
The prize will be awarded to the first author of the manuscript and will consist of a cash award, a trophy and a travel grant of up to $2000 to attend the International Stroke Conference of the American Heart Association. The winners will also be asked to participate in the Stroke symposium held annually at the International Stroke Conference.
The first Awards will be presented during the next International Stroke Conference in San Diego, California, February 18 and 19, 2009.
Up to three awards may be given each year: 1st prize of $5000 USD; 2nd prize of $2500 USD; 3rd prize of $1500 USD.
This Award is made possible by funding from the American Heart Association and Lippincott Williams and Wilkins, to whom we are grateful.
