The implementation of a Stroke Unit based on current guidelines is difficult to obtain over all Europe because of shortage of experts and budget limitations.
The American Heart Association/American Stroke Association statement offers a detailed framework on setting up Telestroke services.1 This is an excellent approach to standardize Telemedicine over the United States. This approach is more challenging in Europe because of different national healthcare systems, geopolitic barriers, and lack of a European standardized stroke care.2
