We thank Machado-Alba et al for the interest in our article.1 They raises the issue of adherence to oral anticoagulants in atrial fibrillation patients, which plays an important role in real-world practice.2 With the nonvitamin K antagonist oral anticoagulants, adherence and persistence may be better than warfarin but are far from perfect.2,3 There may also be better adherence and persistence using drugs with a more convenient 1-day administration.2
