Discovery consists in seeing what everyone else has seen and thinking what no one else has thought”……Albert Szent-Gyorgyi
Progress depends on innovation. With that in mind, the journal STROKE and its Editor has created an Award that is a visible and effective way of encouraging new paths, new methods and new ways of thinking.
The journal STROKE will provide a prize for manuscripts submitted to the journal that have been identified as being innovative. “Innovation” is defined broadly: it can be a new approach, a new methodology, new interpretation of existing data, or new data with far-reaching implications.
Papers submitted to STROKE from August 1 to September 30, 2008, will be considered for this Award.
The prize will be awarded to the first author of the selected manuscript and consist of a cash award, a trophy, and a travel grant of up to $2,000 to attend the International Stroke Conference of the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association. The winners will also be asked to participate in the STROKE symposium held annually at the International Stroke Conference.
The first STROKE Innovation Awards will be presented during the 2009 International Stroke Conference in San Diego, California, February 18-19.
Up to 3 awards may be given each year:
First prize of $5,000 USD
Second prize of $2,500 USD
Third prize of $1,500 USD
This Award is made possible by funding from the American Heart Association and Lippincott Williams and Wilkins, a unit of Wolters Kluwer Health, to whom we are grateful.
